Join Book Love for an evening of poetry featuring Judith Partelow, Glyn Dowden, Robin Smith Johnson, and Dzvinia Orlowsky. Each poet will share 10 minutes of their work with a Q/A and signing to follow.
Judith Partelow:
Judith Partelow has lived on Cape Cod for over 40 years. Her poetry has been published in numerous compilations. Her most recent book is Passion & Provocation, Selected Poems by Judith Partelow is available on Amazon. Her chapbooks include A Woman’s Heart, and Carry Me Back, A Woman’s Life in Poetry. Her first play is entitled, A Woman’s Heart. Her most recent play, a collaboration with other writers, is entitled NEIGHBORS! She is an actress, playwright, and director. www.judithpartelow.com
Glyn Dowden:
Glyn Dowden is a writer who grew up in Wales, has travelled the world and now lives in Massachusetts. He has published two poetry books, a book of essays, talking to the wall during covid isolation, a book of short stories, detective novel, memoir and is currently working on a book about a man describing America to his dead father in a Welsh cemetery. He has also performed poetry readings and enactments of Dylan Thomas in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Robin Smith Johnson:
A longtime adjunct faculty member in the English Department at Cape Cod Community College, Robin Smith-Johnson is co-founder of the Steeple Street Poets (Mashpee). Her book, Dream of the Antique Dealer’s Daughter, was published in Dec. 2013 by Word Poetry and her chapbook, Gale Warnings, appeared in 2016 from Finishing Line Press. Robin lives with her family in Mashpee, MA.
Dzvinia Orlowsky:
Dzvinia Orlowsky ia a Pushcart Prize poet, award-winning translator, and a founding editor of Four Way Books. She is the author of seven poetry collections including Bad Harvest, a 2019 Massachusetts Book Awards “Must Read” in Poetry and her newest, Those Absences Now Closest. She is a recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council Poetry Grant, a Sheila Motton Book Award, and a co-recipient of a 2016 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Translation Fellowship. Her first collection, A Handful of Bees, was reprinted as part of the Carnegie Mellon University Press Classic Contemporary Series. Orlowsky’s co-translations with Ali Kinsella from the Ukrainian of Natalka Bilotserkivets’s selected poems, Eccentric Days of Hope and Sorrow was a finalist for the 2022 Griffin International Poetry Prize and they were granted a 2024 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Translation Fellowship for Lost in Living, their co-translations of Halyna Kruk’s unpublished poetry (Lost Horse Press).
