Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth (HFHGP) announced recently that The Pinehills Affordable Housing Charitable Trust created by Pinehills, LLC has become a top-tier Foundation Builder sponsor for their upcoming Hearts and Hammers Gala, taking place on Friday, October 18. This generous donation is the most recent layer of a growing partnership, which has resulted in The Pinehills ACHT providing more than $250,000 in support to HFHGP over the past several years.
Earlier this year, Pinehills ACHT offered their largest grant to date, for $150,000, toward the affiliate’s largest project in its 22-year history, the construction of three affordable homes together on Long Pond Road in Plymouth. The project, which brought together several agencies in Plymouth, elected leaders and a Town Meeting vote to make it a reality, is now underway. Framing on the three homes is near complete and work will continue through the fall and winter.
HFHGP was pleased to designate two of the three homes to military Veterans in recognition of their service and sacrifice. All of the families were selected earlier this spring, and all have begun to work on the homes themselves, alongside volunteers.
“As a small organization, dedicated to working with our stalwart volunteers in the community, and having limited resources, we are deeply grateful for our tremendous relationship with The Pinehills” said Jim Middleton, Executive Director of HFHGP. “Their contributions will make a lasting, positive impact for the families we are assisting now, and will provide strong footing for our ongoing mission of providing decent, affordable housing for our neighbors in need.”
“The Pinehills Affordable Housing Charitable Trust is extremely pleased to provide funding in support of Habitat for Humanity’s efforts to build homes in Plymouth,” says John Judge, President of Pinehills LLC. “It is an honor for us to be able to address the housing needs of our veterans as a thank you for their service and sacrifice to the country.”
In the tradition of Habitat, labor is provided by volunteers and the public is encouraged to participate.
HFHGP’s Hearts and Hammers Gala is an annual tradition that will raise important funds to support the completion of these four homes, while planning ahead for future houses. The Gala will take place on Friday, October 18th from 6 – 10pm at Hotel 1620 in Plymouth. Leadership from The Pinehills will be honored for their commitment during the speaking program, which will also include remarks from a Habitat homeowner. Other event highlights include live music by ‘Four In A Row’, Surf & Turf dinner (vegetarian option available), live and silent auctions, and raffles. www.hfhplymouth.org
