Drum roll please. The Market has officially been named the South Shore’s first “Healthy Market” by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Jordan Hospital (now Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth,) and Healthy Plymouth. The Mass in Motion Healthy Market Program, an initiative of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health is a statewide program to promote opportunities for healthy eating and active living in the places people live, learn, work and play.
Now when shoppers come to The Market at The Pinehills they will find special “Healthy Market” signage placed adjacent to products throughout the store helping them find healthy, nutritional options. In addition, Jordan Hospital is working with The Market’s Chef Dane to have nutritional information available and on display for a weekly rotation of selected prepared foods, outlining calories, fat content, protein and sodium content per serving.
“We are honored to be chosen as the first Healthy Market both on the South Shore and in Plymouth,” says Sue Blackington-Harris, General Manager of The Market. “It is our goal to serve as the community’s go-to market for healthy, nutritious food in a convenient and welcoming setting. We are thrilled to work with Jordan Hospital and Mass in Motion on this important initiative.”
Come celebrate with us on Monday, August 12 at 11am when the Healthy Market program will officially launch! And after that, enjoy the experience of shopping healthy at The Market.
