Hanover — The staff of Charles David Salon and Spa in Hanover was recently presented with a plaque by South Shore Hospital (SSH) for their “dedication to the compassionate care of every cancer patient.” The plaque was awarded to honor the staff for volunteering their time for the salon’s annual Benefit Day, which over 10 years has raised more than $150,000 for the hospital and its cancer programs.
This past Sunday, the 10th annual Benefit Day was once again held at the salon. During this eight-hour period, 100 percent of the proceeds from all salon and spa services are donated to benefit cancer care programs at SSH and the Moonlight & Miracles Gala, the hospital’s largest fundraising event. Charles David’s entire staff volunteers their time, some even donating their tips at the end of the day.
“These girls work long hours all week, then they take their one day off, hire babysitters and volunteer all day. It’s very moving to me what they sacrifice to do this each and every year,” commented SSH Board of Director and Charles David guest, Helen Garvey. “Their enthusiasm for the event has created new long time supporters for the hospital and you can’t begin to quantify how many additional donations they generate.”
Charles David owner David Honeycutt also remarked on his staff. “For our girls to give up their family time and volunteer so willingly to help others makes me so proud.”
Guests at the salon also bought raffle tickets for prizes donated by King Jewelers in Cohasset, baskets by Elemis, Jane Iredale, and Murad. Lunch was generously donated by Charles David friend, George Aldopoulis. Radio station, Mix 104.1 broadcast the event live while filling the salon up with fun music.
