One hundred percent of Sunday's proceeds were donated to Jordan Hospital's Family Behavioral Health program.
The sun was shining Sunday and a steady stream of customers filed into Charles David Salon and Spa at the Pinehills. The guests weren't just there for a cut, a massage or a facial, but to give back as well. Proceeds from all service and product sales on September 8 will help Jordan Hospital's new Family Behavioral Health programs, which will focus on drug abuse, mental health and family support, according to Kathleen Cogswell, Annual Giving and Database Manager for Jordan Hospital.
Cogswell, who was at the salon with her mother to take advantage of the styling and spa day, said outside events are a massive aid to the hospital's fundraising efforts.
"The fact they've decided to partner with us is huge," Cogswell said.
The Charles David Salon in Hanover has been having benefit days for South Shore Hospital for 12 years. Each October, the salon donates a day's worth of profits to the annual gala. Co-owner David Honeycutt estimates the business has donated close to $300,000 in that time.
"We're hoping some day to get [the Jordan Hospital benefit day] up to that number," said co-owner Denise Rhodes, who added there are plans to include the other Plymouth location off Exit 5 in the future.
Rhodes and Honeycutt explained that giving back to the community is part of the Charles David culture.
"We're very lucky that our staff is as enthusiastic about these events as we are," said Rhodes.
Honeycutt added the employees often chip in to the giving by donating their tips during benefit events.
